We are seeking an Automation Controls Specialist to join our team and be responsible for performing highly diversified duties to develop, construct, install, and maintain automated equipment including programming, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting PLC's, HMI's, Robotic systems, Vision Systems, Motion, Sensors, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, etc. Work assignments are self-directed and varied. This role is a senior position that requires expertise in control systems, instrumentation, and industrial automation, and will be largely self-directed with no technical oversight.

Responsibilities
Design and implement/manage the update of control systems from old technology to new technology.
Upgrade and fine-tune control systems to improve equipment performance.
Provide leadership and technical guidance to manufacturing and maintenance technicians for those technicians to be able to operate and maintain automated systems.
Specify and select appropriate hardware components (sensors, actuators, PLCs, HMI panels, etc.) based on system needs.
Evaluate vendor offerings and make informed decisions regarding hardware procurement.
Perform installation of hardware components on-site.
Configure and program programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other control devices.
Integrate hardware components into existing or new automation systems to ensure seamless communication between hardware and software subsystems.
Provide ongoing support for installed systems.
Conduct system testing and commissioning to verify proper functionality.
Perform preventive maintenance on hardware components.
Collaborate with maintenance teams to address hardware failures promptly.
Create detailed documentation for hardware specifications, wiring diagrams, and installation procedures.
Maintain electrical shop supplies and spare parts inventory.
Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in a machine maintenance role (specifically in the area of position specialization) or 6+ year of trade or military school related to mechanical and/or electrical repair
Understanding and functional knowledge of PLC’s, low voltage controls, three phase power distribution, electronic sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and robotics
Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
Familiarity with Allen Bradly hardware & software or Beckhoff.
Comprehensive understanding of electrical distribution (MCC’s, Transformers).
Comprehensive knowledge of variable frequency drives, AC/DC motors and their controls.
Comprehensive knowledge of pneumatic and electronic instrumentation.
Understanding of wireless technology implementation.
Able to read blueprints, drawings, schematics, and complex instruction sets
Experience with hardware installation and wiring.
Familiar with UL508.
Able to correctly size/engineer electrical circuits to current NEC codes.
Troubleshooting and repair of mechanical machinery, processes, and facilities
Troubleshooting and repair of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and systems
Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Compensation:
$40.29 - $60.43 per hour
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
